Geared Up

My fiancé and I were gearing up for the happiest time in our lives, our wedding.

Then COVID-19 hit the world and we knew we’d be on the front lines soon.

We are registered nurses in Connecticut, once things started it felt as if it would never let up. Everyday coming to work was worse then the last, multiple patients a shift requiring intubation and or passing away, without a family member by their side, to hold them and kiss them goodbye, only an iPad.

As the weeks went by the peak started to come down and we got some relief from intubations. I can honestly say these memories of this invisible war will have a lasting impact on my view of life and how much of it we take for granted.

Always respect the medical professionals in the hospital and show us kindness, we have been sent to serve by a higher calling, because we are givers.

I hold my family closer everyday during this time.
